In addition, the county aims within the next 10 years to create sufficient Centres of Excellence that no young person should be further than 30 miles from such a venue, reducing the time and cost for parents in getting youngsters to training , and improving access for all.
All this activity is undertaken by enthusiastic volunteers who give their time freely and ask nothing in return, except the pleasure of seeing young people grow and blossom in the game.
However, there are limits to commitment, and training young people involves costs – for equipment, for training venues and facilities and for administration. Running its ambitious youth training programme costs the county £100,000 each year – which is only partly covered by sports grants and ECB backing.
We are appealing to you to join our committed team by throwing the weight of your backing – financial or in-kind – behind its tireless efforts on behalf of the county.
Young people today often get a bad press. Those we work with are outstanding examples of what young people can achieve when fired up with enthusiasm and feel pleasure and pride in what they do.
You can be a very high profile part of that achievement and of the county’s success. How’s that for a worthwhile contribution?
